One Piece is one of the most popular series today, that every anime and manga lover is familiar with, but here are some uncommon facts about One Piece you probably don’t know.

1 – One Piece planned to air only for 5 years

One piece was supposed to be finished in 2002 because it originally planned to air only for 5 years, but fortunately Oda changed his mind because he enjoyed writing the one piece manga and decided to continue and even today.

2 – Zoro and Buggy crew

Zoro was originally supposed to be a member of Buggy crew.

3 – The Real World Nationalities of One Piece Characters

Oda revealed the country of origin for each character in One Piece crews if they belonged to this real world.

4 – Whitebeard pirate

Despite having no beard but only a mustache, Edward Newgate named whitebeard due to the absence of a set word in the Japanese language that means beard or mustache, there is only “Shige”  and means facial hair.

5 – Sanji is Naruto

At first, Sanji was going to be named Naruto. But because of the popularity of this last, author Oda canceled the idea to avoid any confusion could happen to the anime fans about the two characters.

6 – Oda cried over manga

You may not trust this, but it’s true the author Oda cried when he was drawing the Going Merry’s funeral. Oda is also getting influenced sometimes when he is drawing a certain strong emotional scene in One Piece,

7 – Gold D. Roger’s last words

Gold D. Roger’s last words were much similar to words were written in a piece of paper that a real pirate called Olivier Levasseur threw from his necklace into the crowd before being executed.

8 –  Olivier Levasseur’s cryptic message

Olivier Levasseur said a cryptic message before his execution: “Find my treasure ye who understand it!”. some of his treasure was found by his former crew, but most are still not found until today.

9 – The Shichibukai

One Piece has taken a lot of inspiration from real life pirates, the British navy used to hire pirates to plunder or take over other countries or pirate ships much like the Shichibukai system in One Piece.

10 – Jewelry Bonney

Jewelry Bonney character was based off the real pirate, Anne Bonny. Anne was a woman who became a famous pirate operating in the Caribbean during the 18th century.
